How to Use PayPal in Kenya Successfully

It is one of the world’s most used money transfer method. Despite this, it does not wok fully in all countries. PayPal has selected countries where people can withdraw to a local bank account or card and upload. Unfortunately, we are not in one of those countries where it functions fully.

Whereas you can upload funds to your PayPal account using a debit, credit or any Visa card, you cannot withdraw funds directly to your card or account in the same way. The reason for this is because our banks do not comply with the security measures PayPal might want to seek through Interpol or such law-enforcing agency. This leaves Kenya and many other African countries secluded.

In Africa, PayPal works fully in Mozambique, Morocco, Malawi, Algeria, Botswana and Lesotho only. Yes, Lesotho!! This is the main undoing for the Kenyan freelancer because we are unable to withdraw money to local banks.

  1. The US bank account option is expensive, true, or cheap - very cheap, if you use an already established banking system. The basic principle behind this method is to join an online business system based in the US and use their platform to get paid. That platform will give you a payment method that you can further use with Paypal. It is legal, cheap and particularly for the system I recommend – it is free to start. It however is not free to actually get the debit card that you need. You can check out details one such platform on my two related posts here:

  2. Thanks for the tip. How long does it take for the SFI debit card to be processed once you earn and apply for it? Is it viable for the Kenyan Freelancer?

Hiya! Quick question that's totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My weblog looks weird when viewing from my iphone. I'm
trying to find a template or plugin that might be
able to resolve this issue. If you have any recommendations,
    please share. With thanks!

    it. Too cool!
